Privacy Policy
1. Overview
NPD IT e-Scanner ("the app") is a professional barcode and QR code scanning application for Android. This policy explains how the app handles your data.
The short version: the app collects no personal data and sends nothing to our servers. Everything stays on your device.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal identifiers, such as your name, email address, phone number, or location
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- The contents of barcodes or QR codes you scan
- Any data to our servers — we operate no backend that receives scan data
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The app stores the following data only on your device, using Android local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly configure an API endpoint.
- Scan history, including barcode values and decoded fields from past scans
- Session names you create to organise scans
- App settings, such as send mode and format options
- API endpoint configurations you define; secret values are stored in Android encrypted storage
You can delete local data at any time by uninstalling the app or using the in-app history delete controls.
4. Device Permissions
Camera
Used solely to read barcodes and QR codes. No images or video are recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Bluetooth
Used to connect your phone to a paired computer as a Bluetooth HID keyboard, so scanned values can be typed into another application. The app does not transmit scan data over the internet via Bluetooth.
Internet (optional)
Only used if you configure a custom API endpoint in Settings → Send → API. In that case, the app sends scanned field values directly to the URL you specify. We have no visibility into those requests. Without an API endpoint, the app makes no network requests.
5. User-Configured API Endpoints
The app can optionally POST scanned values to a URL of your choosing. You define the URL, authentication headers, and payload template. This data goes directly from your device to that server; it does not pass through NPD IT infrastructure, and we have no access to it.
6. Third-Party Services
RevenueCat (in-app purchases)
Used to manage the optional Pro subscription. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous device identifier to verify purchase status. No personally identifiable information is shared with RevenueCat. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
7. Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
